The Physicians of Spirit describes the narratives of Attar and Mowlavi, two mystics and spiritual poets that have exploited various tales and allegories to impart deep mystical meanings, even stories that may not seem worthy of attention at the first value. In the process of enlightenment and expression of mystic truths, they have unconsciously directed the reader’s attention to certain themes some of which are considered as the fundamental steps of contemporary psychology. The theoretical mysticism and psychology can be linked with respect to the association between “the principle of similarity” in mysticism and “identification” in psychology. Similarly, the subject of “perfect mam” in theoretical mysticism can be interlinked to the self-actualized person in Abraham Maslow’s theory. The correspondence between many practical mysticism concepts and psychotherapy techniques underlines the interaction between these two epistemological domains
